一位来自英国的27岁粉刷匠 出生于1983年4月15日 在2010年秋天参加第七季X-Factor伦敦海选 参加海选之前 MattCardle一直为宾馆粉刷房屋。单调乏味的生活迫使Matt放弃了的自己的工作 去为自己寻找更大的舞台。
　　在参加海选接受采访时他这样说道：“一个27岁的成年人还和自己的父母住在一起并不是一件值得炫耀的事情。我一直都很喜欢唱歌，即使是在工作的时候，我也会唱给自己听。每天粉刷房间让我觉得生活很单调，这不是我想要的，我想我应该有更好的生活，所以去报名参加了海选，希望以此改变自己的生活。”　在伦敦参加海选时的Matt Cardle穿着普通：一顶帽子，格子衫，破旧的牛仔裤，和其他东西。Matt的帽子有些破的吓人，他说有次鸟屎掉在上边都没有洗，因为他相信这会带来好运。有次有人问他，你觉得自己最大的特点是什么，Matt居然回答“臭衬衫”，绝大部分时候，他都会戴渔夫帽，穿格子衬衫。
　　Matt的手表，据当事人讲那表已经坏了两年多了，手腕上的纹身Acappella意思是没有乐器伴奏的歌曲，纯以人声唱的歌。
