　　由于日本科学家合成了一种人造血，一夜之间，吸血鬼不再是人们心中那富有传奇色彩的怪物，而是能与人类和平相处的朋友。尽管人类从此不在吸血鬼的猎食名单之列，但仍有很多人惴惴不安，他们担心吸血鬼们某一天会再次走出棺材，爆发血性。全世界的宗教领袖和政府官员们与吸血鬼们划清了界限，但是在路易斯安那州一个名叫Bon Temps的小镇上，人们和吸血鬼却和平相处着。



　　当地的一个女服务生Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin饰演)深知遭人遗弃的感觉，由于天生具有读心术，她得以倾听每个人心中的想法，同时她也对吸血鬼敞开心扉－－尤其是 Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer饰演)，这个173岁英俊的吸血鬼。正当Sookie 被因bill的到来而引起的一系列神秘事件而吸引时，与吸血鬼是否和平相处的考验才真正开始。



　　本剧由《六英尺下》的创造者Alan Ball缔造，《真爱如血》探究了人类胆小的心灵世界，改编自Charlaine Harris的小说《南方吸血鬼》。被艾美奖获得者Ball形容为“为聪明人准备的大餐”的《真爱如血》，拥有着非常出色的演员阵容，这一切都预示着《真爱如血》会带给我们一场多么刺激的旅行。
